Custom network for Rob Hannebauer

An office network revamp, adding Linux servers and a firewall.

Building custom linux servers is a regular part of my work, as is redesigning networks to use them. This project was typical of a few such small office networks I've done. Rob Hannebauer had an existing network of Windows, Solaris and Linux machines. He wanted to add a firewall, web and email services and an internal file and printer server.

We discussed what hardware would be needed for this and Rob purchased it himself. I installed my custom-compiled Linux server system onto the three machines then configured them for their individual jobs. When they had been tested we installed the new PCs, and for a couple weeks after tuned small details remotely over Internet using SSH.

Comment from Rob Hannebauer:

I found Steve Bougerolle amoungst others when I was looking at integrating and converting my heterogenous environment (Solaris, Windows, Linux). I needed web, mail, webmail and domain control in a secure, open source environment for 5 domains. Steve impressed me with his honesty, openness and willingness to solve my problems in the form that I wanted, it was because of his approach that I selected him. He has delivered consistently through the planning, implementation and bring-up stages, it seemed almost effortless. I'd recommend him any day.
